Sachsen Classic 2009

Sachsen Classic 2009

As the seventh "Sachsen Classic" rallye started on August the 13th in Zwickau, classic cars up to production year 1976 and young classics up to 1989 rolled on the roads of Saxony for three days once again. The "German Mille Miglia", as the Sachsen Classic is also called, offered a whole bunch of different vehicles to the audience along the route.
The rallye included cars of 46 different traditional brands, 21 of them are not existing anymore. Models with Saxon and east German roots like Audi, DKW, Horch, Trabant, Wanderer and Wartburg were also represented.

610 kilometres of beautiful landscape, castles and historic old towns made the journey to a wonderful event. "On the traces of pioneers" Saxons "longest automobile museum" was rolling over the most beautiful distance in the free state and the Czech Republic.

The first day of the classic car rallye, leading over 135 kilometres in a loop across Reichenbach and the Sachsenring back to Zwickau, started at the "Platz der Völkerfreundschaft" in Zwickau. The second day led almost traditionally out of Zwickau to the VW-factory Mosel and to the rallye-highlight "Steile Wand von Meerane". After a short lunch break in the Nikolaikirche in Freiberg the rallye continued to the old town of Meissen and accordingly to Moritzburg.
After 230 kilometres the visitors of the "Dresdner Stadtfest" awaited the arrival of the rallye participants on the "Augustusbrücke" in front of the unique backdrop of Dresden.
The longest part of the rallye with about 245 kilometres was carried out on the third day. The route led through Bischofswerda and Cunewalde to Zittau in the Oberlausitz, then to Ceska Kamenice in the Czech Republic and finally to the overall destination "Gläserne Manufaktur" in Dresden.

Bosch demonstrated his loyalty to the Sachsen Classic again and started with two teams which were escorted by the popular VW Bus T1 Van. The first team with the 1959 Borgard Isabella reached a good 29th position and the other team with the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Station Wagon achieved position 31.
